Hemodialysis unit at St. Paul's Hospital
The In-Centre Hemodialysis Unit at St. Paul's Hospital is the largest in British Columbia. The unit has 42 hemodialysis stations (beds) that serve both inpatients and outpatients.
The unit provides a range of services. This includes:
- Hemodialysis
- Nocturnal In-Centre Hemodialysis
- Hemodialysis for Vancouver Visitors
- Therapeutic Plasma Exchange
- Hemodiafiltration
The unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary team under the clinical leadership of a nephrologist. Staff include nurses, technicians, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers and administrative/program staff.
Patients generally require three to four treatments per week for four hours each session.
Hours of operation
The unit operates 24 hours Sunday through Friday. On Saturdays, the unit is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
